National Preparedness Month

September is National Preparedness Month, making it the perfect time to focus on emergency readiness. When it comes to fire safety, preparation saves lives. Every household should have a fire escape plan that includes ways out of every room and a designated meeting spot outside. Take time this month to practice that plan with your family so everyone knows what to do if an emergency occurs. In a typical home fire, you may have as little as two minutes to safely escape once the smoke alarm sounds. Practicing your plan ahead of time ensures you can act quickly when every second counts.

Being prepared doesn’t take long, but it makes all the difference in an emergency. For more information, you can visit the following websites:

Garnet Fire Strike Team

On August 3 we sent an engine to the Garnet Fire in the Sierra National Forest, east of Fresno. Engine 6172 is part of a strike team of engines that includes Healdsurg Fire Department, Sonoma Valley Fire District, and Sonoma County Fire District.
