Firehouse Visit
On October 16, students from Alexander Valley Elementary School visited the Geyserville Fire Station. Children explored the firehouse, climbed into the rescue boat, played in the Seagrave fire engine, and watched as firefighters put on their full protective gear. Students even got the chance to spray water from a real fire hose!
Fire Prevention Week
Fire Prevention Week is observed each year during the week of October 9th in commemoration of the Great Chicago Fire, which began on October 8, 1871 and killed more than 250 people, left 100,000 homeless, destroyed more than 17,400 structures, and burned more than 2,000 acres of land.
Last week, in honor of Fire Prevention Week, our firefighters spent time with the staff and students of Geyserville Elementary School.
Bravery
On October 7, 2025 we were invited to Geyserville Elementary School for a school-wide assembly. This month's assembly theme was "Bravery" so we talked about firefighter bravery and fire prevention.
Fire Inspector O'Brien did a presentation on fire safety and what it means to be brave. He taught students that bravery is speaking up when they see something unsafe, or saying NO to something unsafe. Firefighters showed students their personal protective equipment (PPE) and demonstrated how to put it on in under 1 minute. After that, students went outside to see our Type 6 (wildland) fire engine.
International Walk & Roll to School Day
Walk & Roll to School Day is an annual event that involves communities from across the country (and globe) walking and rolling to school on the same day. This event encourages students, families, and school communities to walk, roll, bike, take transit, or use other non-motorized ways to get to school.
This year’s celebration took place on Wednesday, October 8, 2025. Students and staff of Geyserville Elementary School met at the Geyserville Park & Ride and walked to school as one large group. Northern Sonoma County firefighters escorted the group, providing safety and excitement for walkers.
Community Facilities Workshop
Northern Sonoma County Fire Protection District invites you to join us for a Community Facilities Workshop on Saturday, November 1, 2025 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the Geyserville Fire Station.
The Northern Sonoma County Fire Protection District has begun working on a Long-Term Facility Improvement Plan. This Plan will explore necessary improvements to existing District stations, consider adding stations and other facilities where needs exist, and anticipate future needs.
The Long-Term Facility Improvement Plan is the result of the 2024 Strategic Plan that was updated last year. The Plan is focused on the “building” portion of the Strategic Plan, and will set the pattern of growth and expansion for the District physical plant for the next 25 years.
Please join us for a presentation and a community conversation about where we’re headed. All District Landowners and Neighbors are invited.
