CAL FIRE Fire Prevention Grant: Northeast Sonoma County Wildfire Mitigation Phase I
CAL FIRE awarded Northern Sonoma County Fire Protection District a grant titled "Northeast Sonoma County Wildifre Mitigation Phase I" in the summer of 2022. This grant funded the purchase of a D1K3 masticator. Geyserville Volunteer Firefighters' Association assisted with purchasing the trailer using community donations from fundraisers. Cloverdale Fire Protection District purchased the truck for the trailer. The grant established a partnership with other agencies, particularly CAL FIRE, to use the masticator, for grant funded and government agency sponsored fuel reduction projects. The masticator expands upon the ability of this district and CAL FIRE to implement fuel reduction projects. It complements defensible space, structural hardening, and other wildfire preparedness and resiliency efforts.
