The Northern Sonoma County Fire Protection District is a local form of government called a Special District. Special Districts are directly accountable to their voters and their ratepayers. Special Districts have boards elected directly by district voters with requirements to submit annual financial and compensation reports to the State Controller. Special Districts have meeting rquirements mandated by state laws pertaining to public meetings, bonded debt, record keeping, and elections.
